Highlights of Beautiful Cake Designs by Kenyan Bakers in 2017

Hope you’re all having a wonderful start to 2018; here at Amari we are ^_^ We’re grateful to God for a new year and we’re revving to bake and share lots more on all things baking. 

This year I thought it appropriate to just share some cake creations from 2017 from very talented cake artists and cake houses; just to show-case how truly artistic and talented Kenyan bakers can be. This is just a list of some cake houses and cake artists that gave me permission to share their photos; it does not in anyway encompass all the cake artists and cake houses in Kenya. Now let’s get to it! Here are some beautiful cake designs from Kenyan Cake Houses that we really loved

This Purple Wedding Cake was one of their best designs of 2017. The 5-tier Center-piece with beautiful flower arrangements was meticulously done and the accompanying 6 individual pieces with beautiful gold rose flowers on top and sugar lace on the side were the perfect finish. Sweet Inspirations is a Cake House based in Hurlingham, Nairobi.

It’s not easy to choose a favorite when it comes to Joybells Cake Centre’s work; they make such amazing custom cakes; each unique in its own way and so beautifully crafted. This African-themed wedding cake was truly one of their amazing works of art and not only is the workmanship excellent, so is the presentation. I truly loved this design for sure – keep up the amazing work Joybells Team! Joybells is a Cake House located in Buru Buru, Nairobi. I especially loved the Church House Cake on this Wedding Cake done by Valentine Cake House. It was quite a unique design. Lovely gold roses sugar craft on the accompanying pieces completed the look. Valentine Cake House is based in Nairobi CBD and they have various branches in different areas of Nairobi and Kenya as well. To see more of their designs check their Facebook page –click here. I’m really loving this Race Car Cake Design from the awesome team at The Cake Hub Nyeri; they really did an amazing job on this cake. They specialize in birthday cakes and are truly the best when it comes to 3D and Custom cakes in Nyeri town for sure. They’re located in Nyeri Town Center on Gakere Road. This cake design was very well executed by the team at Mudi Cakes. I loved the clean look about it and the attention to detail. Keep up the good work! This Sophia The First Themed Castle cake by Cooks, Bakes & Cakes Bakery is just out of this world. This is such a magnificent creation and so professionally put together ^_^ I’m totally in love with it and the designs that this cake house does. Always very meticulously done! Loved this simple and elegant 3-tier cake by Cake World for a 70th Birthday; such a lovely design! Cake world is a Cake house located in Hurlingham Plaza off Argwings Khodek Rd, they also sell and rent out cake accessories. Check them out on Facebook – click here. This cake design for Indomie Noodles by Phimar Bakers is another favorite of mine. So well executed and the details on the noodles are just perfect. These bakers are truly talented and they do phenomenal cake designs! Phimar Bakers is a Cake House located on Limuru Rd; check out more on their cake designs on Facebook – click here.

Another favorite was from Wandy’s Bakers; very talented bakers who execute on beautiful custom cake designs. This looks so real, I can’t believe it’s cake! Wandy’s Bakers are located in Tena estate in Umoja 1. Check out more cake designs on their Facebook page – click here.

It could be the Ankara print; I loved this cake design for it’s African print theme and it’s elegance. Very beautifully put together from Sweet Indulgence, located on Thika Road in Nairobi. Check out more beautiful cake designs on their Facebook page – click here.

To highlight some really talented cake artists in Kenya ^_^

Hashnunish Sultan is a talented Cake Artist and it’s rather hard to choose a favorite out of her collection of custom cakes she’s made. This one was one of her favorites and I’m truly loving it as well ^_^ Her craftsmanship is remarkable. Keep it up Hash! Custom Cakes by Hash is based on Magadi Road in Nairobi. I just had to feature the lovely work of Delilah Jill of Dee Divine Cakes Mombasa. Yet another truly talented cake artist who has just amazing designs to choose from. I especially loved this 4-tier blue beauty and the colorful Sugar craft is just so beautiful! Samantha Wainaina is a very talented Cake artist based in Nairobi; really tough to choose which of her amazing custom cakes to feature. This made the cut, I think it’s just glorious ^_^ The execution and presentation was just lovely and I love the color! Another lovely lady who has such a beautiful soul and such talent is Gaceri Gitau of G.G.s based in Nairobi. This is such a wonderful work of art and it was done for a friend of hers and executed so flawlessly despite Gaceri having lots of turmoil in her life at the time. I love that no matter what’s going on; she did what she had to do to delivery this beauty no matter what – way to go lady!!

Had to feature this lady, Leonne Terry of Tehillah Cakes & Caterers who has had tremendous growth as a cake artist and is now making such lovely creations.

I truly loved this version of some very fierce marbled chocolate spikes with a very mesmerizing chocolate drip. I’m personally proud to feature this lovely Cake artist who is slowly growing in the industry. She’s an allumni of Amari Baking Center, she took our Baking and decoration courses in January last year and has been practicing and growing her skill since then to where she is now. I personally love this custom cap cake she did – the attention to detail and the lovely finish impressed me so much! Cate of Mo Bakers & Pastries is based in Kilifi and she does custom cake and wedding cake orders – we are so proud of her ^_^ Just had to showcase 2 of her wedding cakes she’s done below.

Of course I couldn’t forget to feature the Queen of  SugarCraft in Kenya (in my opinion ^_^) This amazing lady does such beautiful Sugar craft work and so professionally too. I truly admire her work and it was truly hard to choose a best design out of her work; I chose this particular one since it really showcases all her strengths when it comes to sugar craft and her craftsmanship in general. Her cake designs are always a work of art.

Another up and coming Cake Artist who’s skill has grown recently and she does unbelievably amazing cake designs that look so real, Binti Mohammed of Tamima’s Tam Tam. I had to feature this KFC Burger and fries cake that also won the Cake Festival Competition last year.

This wonderful, kind-hearted cake artist is another talented lady who makes such beautiful designs that it was quite another task choosing which cake to feature. This pretty, girly, pink purse stood out to me; mostly because of how realistic it looked. Mary Wairimu of Anointed Hands Cakes is truly talented and has more to offer as time continues. This is an up and coming Cake House to watch out for; they’re definitely doing amazing things and creating amazing cake designs. Ruth Karuga founder of Taji Cakes is definitely a cake artist to watch out for – she has great talent and a work ethic I personally love, she’s also a very focused business lady. My personal favorite Taji Cakes design for 2017 was this wedding cake that was so beautifully done and presented. I loved the geometric design and the gold, white and black colors – really a work of art. 

Just also had to feature one of their Rainbow sprinkles design; it’s a popular cake design among their customers and one of their favorite designs to do ^_^ Taji Cakes is based in Ruiru. Another Cake artist to watch out for; Rita Kenyanya. This cake design was just out of this world. She made it for a Cake competition held by The Cake Festival and it of course won a prize ^_^ I don’t really have to say much about this cake, it speaks for itself – all I can say is wwwoooooowwwww!!! Very happy to see a Kenyan cake artist pushing her limits as a decorator and doing marvelous things; wishing you all the best Rita. Yasmin Harji is a wonderful, soft-spoken cake artist based in Mombasa. It was also quite hard to choose a favorite from this lovely lady’s collection of cake designs. I loved this design for its simplicity and elegance. The pearls and white flowers are just so beautiful; the gold lace gives it a nice and elegant finish – stunning! Deep Suri of Deepz Delights is a talented Cake artist based in Nairobi who makes beautiful cake designs as well as toppers. Her work is very meticulous and amazing.  Out of her many cake designs (this job of choosing was so hard), this was one of my favorites. The figurines look so perfect and adorable and I love the color combination on the cake design; very warm and elegant. Amazing execution on cake design.

This cake version of a Kiondoo cake is one of the best I’ve seen so far and I just had to feature this wonderful version from Beata of Beewise Bakers who’s based in Nairobi. She’s a truly talented cake artist, definitely one to watch out for in 2018. Her precision and attention to detail, as well as a wonderfully flawless finish are what have caught the eye of many of her clients. Martha Karanja is another talented cake artist who does spectacular custom cake designs. One of her best work was this animal-themed birthday cake for her wonderful son. I’m sure her son loved the figurines and awesome theme just like I did! Her attention to detail and execution was definitely on point on this cake. Martha is based in Syokimau Estate. The Cake Haven is a bakery located in Kasarani along the Sportview Hotel Rd. This Diaper Bag is my favorite design out of their many beautiful ones from last year. It looks so realistic! This lovely Christmas Cake was my favorite from this bakery that does simple and elegant cake designs, most of which have lots chocolate in them ^_^ The Chocolate Hut is an online Home bakery, if you want to check out more of their products and order – find out more on their site – Click here. Of course I had to feature The Wicked Whisk Nairobi; this lovely bakery does such scrumptious, delicious and lovely cake designs that are a tad offbeat ^_^ (they also have a very cool name). I really love the unique play on flavors on their Salted Caramel Popcorn cake – how cool is that! Definitely couldn’t leave this cake out, I love it! Emily of Lylisa CakeHouse is another up and coming cake artist based in Gisambai Village in Vihiga County, Western Kenya. She has been creating lovely designs in 2017 and this is a wonderful story-telling stencil cake that was a favorite of hers and we loved it as well. I love her clean finish and neat work. Aboud Amal of Gateaux by Amal is another cake artist to watch out for, she especially makes amazing chocolate cake creations and cream cakes. The above is one of her amazing cake designs of 2017! I especially love the water color effect on this 2-tier cake and the fresh roses used for decoration; they make the color really pop! Kudos to Aboud, keep it up! This is another Cake House that is really making a mark for itself; founded by Esther Macharia-Bajela. They make beautiful cake designs and are unique in that they bake gluten-free and sugar-free cakes for their customers. This particular design was a favorite of mine from their 2017 cake designs and the customer who received it had nothing but high praise for it, we can definitely see why ^_^ Check them out on Facebook – click here. Faith is another up and coming cake artist who I’m also personally proud off. She’s also an allumni of Amari Baking Center who took our Cake making and decoration courses to improve her basic knowledge. I loved this particular cake due to the clean, neat finish and the well-executed theme for a pastor. We’re very proud of her, we know she’s going to do big things! Eunice Ongoli is a truly talented cake artist who runs Jazzy Cake Parlour based in Nairobi. She’s another talented cake decorator who creates very amazing custom cakes such as the above Sponge-bob Pirate Cake. I’m loving this Baby shower – themed cake from the lovely Pamela of Dazzling Delights Kenya. She’s a very talented cake artist based in Kitengela. She definitely dazzles with her cake designs and this one showcases her clean finish and craftsmanship clearly. Wahu Ng’ang’a is a wonderful and lovely upcoming cake artist who has been growing in the industry and has been doing amazing cake designs as well. I particularly loved this knitting-themed cake for a lucky grandmother. This cake obviously took time to decorate; all the meticulous knitting design with fondant is just wow ^_^ All the best to her as she continues to grow and do amazing work. Had to feature this lovely young lady’s work; Mary of Cakes by Mary is a budding cake artist doing lovely things, she’s based in Ruaka. Her work is quite lovely and I especially loved this simple fondant design with quilted sides and beautiful roses. Just had to feature this budding cake artist as well, Emily Mbugua of E & Ms Cakes based in Mountain-view estate in Nanyuki town. I just love the growth I’ve seen her go through, especially reflected in this lovely bug-themed cake with adorable fondant figurines ^_^ Check out more of her work on Facebook – click here. 

 

This is another talented budding cake artist I would like to feature; her work is truly beautiful and it shows in this 2-tier birthday cake she did. Her cake decorating skills are quite amazing and this is just a small preview of the awesome work she actually does. Judie of Dazzling piece of cake is based in Nairobi. Nancy of Ngesh is another up and coming Cake artist based in Juja who has excellent work. She has the skill to execute on lovely themed cakes such as this law-themed one and has such a lovely finish. Beryl of Incredible cakes has incredible talent ^_^ when it comes to cake decorating. She is  growing in the industry and does lovely cake designs as show above (I just had to show-case both of them). She’s based on Kikuyu Rd, Kamwene -area in Nairobi. Another cake artist to watch out for in this new year is Betty Bakers who is based in Kangema town in Murang’a County. Loved her execution on this pot cake. We wish her all the best and hope she continues in the same spirit. Check more of her work on Facebook – click here.

Our final feature is a cake artist who has seen tremendous growth in 2017. Wambui Wachira is based in Nasra estate,near Mama Lucy hospital. Spine Rd. Last, but not least, Had to feature my favorite cake design I did last year. Out of all the cakes I decorated last year; this was my favorite. I hadn’t done a jiko cake design before and I was challenged to do so by a client who wanted to surprise his mum and I was truly pleased with the end result and their feedback as well.
